Just one week ago we were all returning from a packed CES schedule of keynotes, meetings, parties, and the best part of all – reuniting with old friends and colleagues attending the show. And making new friends while discovering a whole host of new companies and smart solutions from the world’s most creative minds!
We walked the show from end to end at the LVCC, Sands and Venetian booths and suites, with a couple of trips to Mandalay Bay to see plenty of eye-popping innovations. But my CES is still primarily about the people.
People like IBM Chairman, President and CEO Ginny Rometty who took the CES 2019 keynote stage on January 8 and explored what’s next for IBM across data, blockchain, AI, and computing.
What I found most compelling was the revelation of IBM’s commitment as a founding member of CTA’s Apprenticeship Coalition, a major initiative that will create thousands of new apprenticeships in 20 U.S. states and help close the skills gap companies face in hiring new employees. IBM pledged to add at least 450 apprenticeships a year for the next five years.
Again, it’s about the people. Watch the IBM Keynote here.
Tuesday night was all about celebrating with our Women in Consumer Technology Legacy Awards class of 2019. We were so gratified to have a great turn out for the 10th anniversary of our CES networking reception and the continued support of all of our sponsors. A big shout-out to Gary Shapiro for joining us on stage for our traditional champagne toast! Here’s a link to all of the great pictures we captured on that magical night.
What a privilege to congratulate so many deserving recipients of the CTA Mark of Excellence 2019 product and project awards. Another shout-out to Integrator of the Year, Wipliance! The Venetian ballroom was standing-room-only on Wednesday evening for the awards presented by the TechHome division of CTA in partnership with CEPro. The Mark of Excellence awards program recognizes the best of custom installed projects and home technology integration products. Custom integrators and manufacturers submit for a variety of categories to compete with the best of the best for industry-wide recognition.

Like so many veterans of CES, we are already looking forward to another awe-inspired year in 2020! But first, a well-deserved nap!
