I recently sat down with Sarahgrace Kelly, ShadeCraft COO, the company that is making the backyard the place to be for at home entertainment and all-in-one practicality. We talked about the company’s history and their key product roadmap.

Maureen Jenson: I first saw ShadeCraft at CES a year ago and now your company is making quite a splash in the CI channel. Can you please give us the lowdown on the company’s history?

Sarahgrace Kelly: ShadeCraft was formed to improve human life outdoors through connected devices and robotic technology. There is a plethora of smart home products inside the home, but we saw a large void in the outdoor space. With the movement to outdoor living, it is more necessary than ever for customers to have access to the same convenience and connectivity they are accustomed to indoors.

We knew that by creating outdoor hubs, we could expand the experience of the smart home ecosystem and the connected universe. After countless design innovations and thousands of pages filed with the USPTO, ShadeCraft is honored to be the first to bring connectivity, safety, entertainment, and automation to commercial and residential spaces through an object that consumers already use and gather around outdoors – the parasol.

 

MJ: Tell us about the key products in your line?

SK: SUNFLOWER is our introductory hub, which is the world’s first solar powered robotic shading system. Like its namesake, SUNFLOWER wakes up in the morning and tracks the sun all day long, providing perfect shade and retaining optimum solar energy through its embedded solar panels. It uses the solar energy to operate autonomously and to power onboard features including WIFI, voice activation, integrated Bluetooth speakers, an HD security camera, device charging, and controlled LED lighting.

SUNFLOWER is the introductory hub; the world’s first solar powered robotic shading system.

SUNFLOWER is the first in a line of patented products that ShadeCraft is creating that help consumers reduce clutter and stay connected outdoors.

 

MJ: What sort of dealer incentives do you offer and how do you work with your dealers to sell more products?

SK: We have built an excellent package with HTSA for its members. This includes a more robust margin and a deeper demo discount. ShadeCraft is proud to support its dealers through monthly communications, training programs, engaging content and marketing initiatives.

No one knows the clients better than the dealers and we look forward to working closely with our dealers to ensure that we deliver a top-tier experience alongside our quality product.

 

MJ: What are some of the advantages for a vendor joining HTSA?

SK: HTSA allows us to have quality time with some of the best integrators in the country who are at the forefront of their industry. The exclusive events allow us to have meaningful interactions with members to showcase our products in person and engage on a level that is difficult to achieve at a tradeshow.
