I’m not sure there is anything more delicious than fresh, oven-baked white bread. There has to be a million things you can stick between two slices, from peanut butter and pickles, to roasted tri-tip, to a delectable chicken salad. This recipe is so easy, you’ll have your friends convinced you took a baking class!

1                            Packet of Yeast (Red Star if available!)

1 cup                     Milk

1/3 cup                 Sugar

1 tbsp                    Salt

3 tbsp                    Butter (plus additional for greasing baking pan)

2                            Eggs

4 cups                   Flour

Combine milk, butter, sugar and salt in saucepan and warm until sugar dissolved.  When warm but not hot, pour into mixing bowl (from a stand mixer) and add yeast.  Let stand 5 – 10 minutes, or until foam appears.

Add eggs and flour (sift at least once) and mix with paddle attachment until well combined, about 2 minutes on low speed.  Switch to dough blade and knead dough for about 10 minutes on lowest speed.

Grease large bowl with butter and add dough.  Cover and let stand for 1.5 hours or until doubled in size.  Remove to floured board and knead by hand for 3 minutes.  Return to bowl, cover and let stand for 30 minutes.

Remove and place in greased 9 x 5 x 3 bread pan.  Let stand for 1 hour.

Bake for 10 minutes at 400 degrees and additional 25 minutes at 360 degrees.
