For those of you who read the TIG newsletter, you know we always like to acknowledge those people in our industry who do well by doing good. I’m just off a plane from Oklahoma where I participated in the Petra Hope-in-One charity golf tournament. I’ve been participating for many years now, and it was great to see old friends and see how generous our colleagues are. Let me take you back to the beginning and give you a brief history of the event.

In 1999, 50 golfers from 20 different companies arrived in Edmond, Oklahoma for the first charity golf tournament – which would be branded Hope-In-One in 2015. Now, as they reach the landmark 20th annual iteration of this life-changing event, everyone who participates is humbled by the growth they’ve seen. Since the tournament’s inception, Petra and their partners have donated over $1,000,000 to deserving charities. The impact of the event has far surpassed anyone’s highest expectations.

I’ll be keeping the charity golf tournament on my yearly calendar and continue to support their efforts. This year, the group came together to raise $120,000 for the Wiz Kids Oklahoma & Mercy charities ($60,000 each). AMAZING! Congratulations to everyone that participated and to Team Petra for another heartwarming event!
