As I mentioned last week, there was a tremendous amount of content presented at the Innovate Celebrate conference in San Francisco on October 9 – 11, 2017. Laced throughout the presentations and panels, Five Technology Trends to Watch were noted.

The Five Technology Trends to Watch focus on the new level of intelligence that is creating a smarter, more connected world and how these aspects of technology could impact our future. Selected by the CTA analysts, the five topics they chose to explore include:

  • 5G and the smart cities that these high-speed networks will enable
  • Cyber security and new techniques in the pipeline like behavioral biometrics driven by machine learning that will help to further secure information
  • The experience economy
  • The future of work
  • A look at how the technology choices of Gen Z, those born after 1995, will impact our society

Finally, the 24th Annual Consumer Technology Holiday Purchase Patterns Study shows drones, fitness activity trackers and home robotic vacuums debut among the top ten most wanted tech gifts. Additionally, according to CTA’s holiday retail forecast, tech spending will increase one percent to reach a record $96.8 billion during the 2017 holiday season (October-December).
