MJ talks to Dave Duncan, Product Line Manager, InFocus Corporation about dealer support, the commercial market and CEDIA 2019. Part One here.
Maureen Jenson: Any marketing plans in the residential space? Will you be at CEDIA EXPO?
Dave Duncan: We have several different pieces in the works now, including new avenues of exposure through different channels such as YouTube reviews and gaming influencers. We are also focusing our social media marketing strategy on augmenting traditional reviews and various targeted advertising campaigns. Though InFocus will not be exhibiting at CEDIA this year, we will likely have a presence with some of our larger partners.
MJ: How do you support your dealers?
DD: InFocus has a long-standing history of industry-leading service and support for its dealers. We have a US-based call center with priority numbers for our dealer network, and we offer design services to help dealers match the right products with the right spaces. For years we have put heavy emphasis on training via live demonstrations and a large catalogue of training videos available online. And lastly, InFocus offers dealers and end users strong warranty policies and fast technical service execution.
MJ: How is your commercial business? Where are you seeing the most growth?
DD: The InFocus commercial business is very strong. We offer a range of display products from projectors, to interactive displays, to video walls. In recent years, education has been a large growth area for both our projector and interactive display products. Projectors are still the go-to, especially for K-12 due to their low cost and high-connectivity options. Today, schools are looking to update their classroom technology to solid state illumination or even upgrade to laser or LED projectors depending on the application and space, which has led to a growth in sales. Demand for high-resolution video conferencing and interactive displays is also on the rise from the corporate, House of Worship and Higher Education segments of the market.
In the residential space, we are seeing tremendous growth in the projector market for gaming solutions. Wouldn’t you want to be fully immersed in a high-definition view on a screen measured in feet if you were ‘virtually’ taking over the world?
MJ: Haha, absolutely! Anything else you would care to add?
DD: Whether it be for commercial or residential applications, we are really excited about our projectors that feature the InFocus TechStation. The ability to deliver solutions that offer significant value and easy BYOD connectivity to any classroom, conference room, or living room, makes InFocus a leader in the projection industry.
