I recently sat down with Katherine Spiller, Director, Sales and Marketing Steinway Lyngdorf to talk about their Lyngdorf Audio products, their dealer support and CEDIA EXPO 2019!

Maureen Jenson: Katherine, it was so great to see you at the HTSA meeting in the spring, why did you join the group?

Katherine Spiller: We were already working with some HTSA members and saw joining the group as an incredible opportunity to strengthen our support of existing partners and forge new relationships. Lyngdorf Audio is growing rapidly and having a strong and reputable dealer base to support the brand is a key priority for us.

MJ: Tell us about your latest product lines?

KS: The product which put Lyngdorf Audio on the map in the U.S. is our MP-50 Surround Sound Processor. This processor has been a huge success for us and for good reason. We worked incredibly hard to offer the latest technology, including support for all immersive audio formats and our proprietary RoomPerfect™, paired with the highest quality components, while still coming to market at a competitive price point.

Lyngdorf Audio’s newest product is the TDAI-3400 – our most versatile processor and amplifier combination to date.  We built this one for the demanding audiophile as it combines 2 x 400 W of power with an impressive feature set.  There are a variety of inputs and outputs including a balanced  AES/EBU to allow  for  optimal  connection  to digital  audio  sources, a  USB  input  for  music  stored  on  external  media and an optional HDMI module which allows for HDMI 2.0b – 18 Gbps HDR10, 600 MHz and 4k support.  There is also a built-in  media  player which connects  to  services  like  Spotify  Connect  and  Airplay  as  well  as  internet  radio or one  can  also  access a library  of  music  through  the  DLNA/UPnP  enabled  player.  Like our other TDAI integrated amplifiers, the TDAI-3400 comes complete with  a calibration kit and Lyngdorf’s  proprietary  RoomPerfect™technology  including  a  new  voicing  tool  which  allows  users  to  create  up  to  32  unique  EQ  curves.

Looking into the future, we’re very excited about the new multi-channel amplifier we will be announcing later this year. The MXA-8400 will be Lyngdorf Audio’s first 8-channel amplifier and represents a groundbreaking shift with the unique use of negative feedback (NFB) allowing it to effectively reduce distortion and increase linearity.  We’ll be sharing more details about our newest amplifier this fall.

MJ: How are you meeting the needs of the custom integrator? What kind of dealer support do you offer?

KS: The key word for us when it comes to the meeting the needs of our dealer base is “partnership”. We strive to be response to the market and truly value the feedback from our partners – whether it relates to features they need in future products or trends they are seeing in the market before anyone else.  One of our focuses for the next 12 months is to increase the number of training opportunities we offer and streamline our communication tools to be more targeted and effective.  We know everyone is bombarded with content these days so we’re looking to get our partners the information they need without clogging up their inboxes.

MJ:  Will you be at CEDIA EXPO and what other events do you attend during the year?

KS: We’re still working on our final plans for CEDIA EXPO 2019 but we’ll certainly be there – and are looking forward to another great EXPO! CEDIA EXPO is our main show in the U.S., but we also participate in ISE and Munich High-End in Europe.
