2RU Amplifier Provides Installers With a Custom Solution for Powering JBL Synthesis SSW-4 In-Wall Subwoofer Modules

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. — Sept. 28, 2022 — HARMAN Luxury Audio Group today announced that its JBL Synthesis SDA-1700 Class D subwoofer amplifier is now shipping. As part of a JBL Synthesis in-wall subwoofer system, the SDA-1700 is a custom solution designed exclusively to power the SSW-4 dual 8-inch (200-mm) in-wall subwoofer — delivering 350W to a single

SSW-4 or 700W to a pair. For the ultimate home theater system, the SDA-1700 and SSW-4 can be paired with JBL Synthesis’ SCL series of in-wall and in-ceiling loudspeakers.

Optimized for the highest levels of performance and reliability, the SDA-1700 includes convenient front-panel controls for users, while rear-panel crossover, phase, single-band PEQ, and module EQ controls allow for fine-tuning by custom installers. Offering low distortion and noise, the amplifier’s features include short-circuit and over-current protection, over-temperature compensation, and signal sensing for automatic turn-on and turn-off. Housed in a 2RU chassis, the unit ships with rack ears for mounting in traditional enclosure racking systems.

“With its dedicated equalization and protection circuitry, the SDA-1700 provides installers with a tailor-made, lower-cost solution for optimizing the performance of  SSW-4 in-wall subwoofer modules,” said Jim Garrett, Senior Director, Product Strategy and Planning, HARMAN Luxury Audio. “Furthermore, the amplifier pairs perfectly with an SDR-38 AVR used to power our SCL series architectural loudspeakers in a complete JBL Synthesis home theater system. The SDA-1700 is making its world debut at CEDIA Expo 2022, and we can’t wait to show off its capabilities.”

The JBL Synthesis SDA-1700 will be on display in HARMAN’s booth 16035 at CEDIA Expo 2022, taking place September 29 to October 1 in Dallas. The Class D subwoofer amplifier is available for a manufacturer suggested retail price of $1,320.
