I reccently sat down with Asya Uysal, North America Regional Manager at Mikodam, to talk about their acoustical panel products, their first CEDIA EXPO experience, and what dealers are saying about the company’s exceptionally beautiful acoustical wall and ceiling treatments. Part 2   (Part 1 here)

Maureen Jenson: Tell us about your product lines? What makes your products unique and special?

Asya Uysal: Mikodam takes joy and inspiration from the search of improving treated spaces. Under our high-end brand Mikodam we offer wall applications and furniture, all high quality, customizable, and exclusive. We aim to offer, like all designers that are in the search of a better future, designs that can improve the quality of living. Quality can only be reached through improving many different components of a product. We believe that the pieces that enter your spaces should reach beyond simple tasks. What Mikodam offers deals with the issues of taste, quality and function. Mikodam solves and improves for you.

To reach our aim in high quality, Mikodam designs are customizable, aesthetic, acoustic, conscious, sustainable, durable; they come in different styles, they are adaptable to different needs and therefore they are unique.

Customizability is one of our solutions; this way you get to be a part of the creative process, transforming the pieces Mikodam offers into a unique design. You can choose from the material and color choices and transform each piece zone by zone into a unique piece, experimenting with the different options each product has to offer. Through rotations and combinations you will reach the right amount of flexibility that will inspire you.

Another aspect that should be highlighted is acoustics. Acoustics are an important issue that determines the quality of the sounds we take in. It is usually an undermined subject which can either be solved by custom designs that are time and resource consuming or it is usually left unsolved. In our search for quality, we bring  a solution to the issue of acoustic clarity with our panels: choosing from perforations, materials and surface textures as well as three dimensional options, you can reach acoustically and aesthetically pleasing environments.

The forms Mikodam offers are shaped with acoustic calculations and aesthetic requirements. The isolators located between the rails and the walls stop the vibrations from spreading and prevent undesired resonances. Every space has different acoustic requirements, Mikodam makes sure there is a panel combination that will serve all these needs.

Through Mikodam we offer integrity; spaces that are improved, spaces that are harmonious, spaces that are designed, spaces that are of the highest quality.

MJ: What products did you bring to CEDIA EXPO to present to the custom installation channel?

AU: We presented all 10 wall panels and two of our armchairs, Yuko and Lipo as well as pepe, our two-door cabinet.

MJ: Can you share some responses from your dealers during EXPO?

AU: Bang and Olufsen was our only dealer at the time and they created traffic between the two booths. Mikodam products captured the attention of many dealers and reps due to aesthetic and functional features. After CEDIA EXPO, we were in New York, New Jersey, Ohio, San Francisco, Chicago and have new connections in Florida. Our panels have created a lot of interest because there is nothing like this in the market.

MJ:  Any dealer success stories you would care to share?

AU: The dealers we work with have extended their services by adding our aesthetic products. They’ve gone from only residential to commercial projects such as lobbies, conference rooms and restaurants. Their Mikodam projects grow!

Stay tuned next week when we discuss the best ways to find Mikodam in North America and what the company’s plans are for the future! Part 3 here.
